The Orphan Quilt Kit

We ended up with a pre-cut quilt kit for the Storm at Sea that was rejected by the original owner.  She sent along a note that said something to the effect that the colors would never work and it wasn't going together right and she had been sewing for 40 years and never had any trouble before.

Well, all that negativity spurred John to put the kit together himself; just to prove her wrong.  Here is a little Smilebox of the progress.  And, she may have been sewing for 40 years, but not with an accurate 1/4" seam allowance, which does help.  Seriously, how do you think it turned out?

I think it turned out beautiful. I've never done a Storm at Sea. I need to do one in rainbow colors I think!

I was just thinking of you all today, because I was one of the people that received one of your 'cleaning house' boxes. I gifted a couple of the books out, and I used the pillow kit to make ornaments for an exchange. I was working on those ornaments all day...so thank you!

I love the smilebox sessions, they do make me smile! Loved seeing the different versions on the design wall, and the finished quilt top is beautiful. I loved the music too!

I love the video! I bought one of your Storm at Sea kits a couple of years ago but have been intimidated about putting it together. Now I see that it is random sewing and then play, play, play. Thanks for showing us this technique! I will get right to it!
